Permaculture Design Certificate
2025/26
Rooted in connection: an integrated PDC for self, community and earth...
Have you ever been on a course that you think is amazing at the time, but then you get home and find what you have learnt hard to implement and action, so within a few weeks, it has faded into a beautiful experience with no impact on the world?

This is a permaculture design course (PDC) with a difference, different because you will leave the course with personal, social and community building skills and resources, as well as the amazing array of design tools you would usually expect on a PDC.

Permaculture is a design system born from close observation of natural patterns and ecosystems to create regenerative, resilient and productive food and land systems. The PDC is an internationally recognised qualification covering the ethics of earth care, people care and their share as well as the 12 design principles which culminates in a practical design project.

Steve Jones has led PDC courses for decades at home and abroad having positive impacts on local and global communities (read more about Steve below) and he will skilfully guide you through theory and practice whilst also integrating visits to and discussions with regenerative farmers and rewilders who model putting theory into practice.

Creating a frame around the PDC are Julie Leoni and Ceri Jordan (see detailed bios below).

Ceri is a skilled yoga, meditation and breathwork practitioner with a deep understanding of the wheel of the year and how this connects us with the natural world at a physical and spiritual level. She will offer daily somatic and mindfulness practices for exploring and embodying the principles of the PDC from 'Zone Zero'.

Julie is a community builder and life coach who will hold sharing circles and facilitate opportunities for connection within the group, using skills and practices which can be replicated in participants’ own communities. She will also integrate coaching approaches so that participants leave feeling like they have an action plan for their own context and setting.

Ghandi asked us to ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ and Satish Kumar invites us to 'engage with head, hand and heart'... and it is these principles which are woven into the web of permaculture principles, creating an experience that connects deeply with the inner world of the individual, creates community connections and strengthens relationships within the web of life.

Practicalities:
The course runs over six weekends throughout the year so that participants can fit the PDC around work and family life. This also allows time for integration and develops an awareness of the changes through the seasons.

FAQs:
Q: What is different about this PDC?
A: It integrates zone zero (your own inner world), and links it to community as well as ecology so that you leave fully resourced to implement change at an individual, community and ecological level.
Q: What will I get from it?
A: An internationally recognised Permaculture Design Certificate; experience of designing your own project; yoga, breathwork and meditation practices; community engagement skills; the opportunity to connect with people who are living and working using permaculture principles.
Q: Who can come?
A: Anyone with a curiosity about how to tweak, nudge or jump towards creating a healthy, regenerating life for people, planet and future generations. No prior skills needed.
Q: Do I have to do all parts of the course, for example, I’m not very bendy so don’t fancy yoga?
A: You will need to attend the Permaculture sessions in order to complete your certification. The rest is optional, although we invite you to be curious about all the aspects of the course and we do ask that everyone engages with the circles at the start and end of the day.
